Said many people, eating corn rice can help control blood sugar so good for people with diabetes than white rice. Is it true ?

Corn rice is better for diabetics

Corn is one source of good carbohydrates for the body. Corn also contains enough fiber, so you who have diabetes do not have to worry about eating it. Fiber can help the body release glucose as a source of energy slowly. Thus, blood sugar does not rise directly after eating corn. So, no wonder if many people say that corn rice can help control blood sugar better than eating white rice.

Not only fiber, corn also contains many nutrients, such as iron, vitamin A, vitamin B6, vitamin B1, vitamin B2, vitamin B3, folate, phosphorus, magnesium, manganese, and selenium. Thus, corn can be a nutritious staple food. However, you should still consider the portion of your meal, do not over eat corn or corn. And, consume corn by combining it with food sources of protein and vegetables. So, you get a complete nutrition while eating.

When compared with white rice, corn has fewer calories. In 100 grams of corn contained 140 calories, while 100 grams of white rice has as many as 175 calories calories. So, you can eat corn rice with more portion but with as much calorie as white rice with less portion. That way, your calorie intake and your appetite will be more controlled.

Apparently, this is the result of research found by experts

Current medical research says that eating corn regularly can help the body control blood sugar better. This of course must be balanced by controlling other foods, especially those that contain lots of sugar.

Reporting from the Asian Journal, a professor from the University of Philippines Los Banos, Dr. Artemio Salazar explains that corn can be a good staple food for diabetic patients. This is because corn has a higher amylose content than rice. Making corn will be digested more slowly by the body, so that blood sugar will be more controlled.

Better yet, corn has protein, fiber foods, minerals, and antioxidants that are much higher than other staple foods. However, although white rice with corn rice looks almost similar, but getting used to rice consumption seems rather difficult.

For that, if you want to switch corn meal (which may seem unfamiliar to you), you should move slowly. You may be able to mix rice and white rice first in the first try, so it will be easier for your tongue to accept it.
